With an African safari theme which compliments the adjacent Animal Kingdom theme park, this 850,000 square foot, 1293-room hotel occupies 74 acres.  Contemporary construction materials and techniques were adapted to recreate the appearance of the thatched roof and timber construction typical of traditional African structures.  Over 200 African mammals graze the 33-acre simulated African savanna, which surrounds the 6-story hotel on three sides.  Guests enjoy dramatic views of this wildlife preserve or the 9,000 square foot swimming pool.  The hotel offers a number of amenities, including a children’s learning center, a fast food eatery, three meal restaurant and a specialty dining restaurant.  As Architect-of-Record, GSB, Inc. was responsible for transforming the dramatic vision of the design architect into a reality.
